Somebody who has aphasia struggles with language and communication due to damage in a particular part of the brain (for example, a stroke). As a Speech and Language Therapist in training I am learning about how Aphasia works, the various types of Aphasia and most importantly how Aphasia affects the daily lives of those who have it and their families. Imagine losing the ability to understand or communicate in a language you’ve used all your life! I am running my first half marathon in February to raise money for research and support for aphasia patients.
