To invest in more training so there is more understanding.

Say Aphasia says that every group is run by someone with aphasia, which is incredible, as it offers purpose to someone who cannot return to their career after their stroke or brain injury.

Each group is also supported by kind volunteers, who, may or may not fully understand the many ways which aphasia can affect someone.

I would like to raise money to fund the necessary additional training for volunteers which specifically focuses on how to support someone with aphasia to have better conversations.

Many people who attend the support groups may need a different approach to communication to enable them to express their thoughts and opinions. Such as drawing alongside what is being said, to help them process the context of the conversation.

The majority of society see communication as speaking. Say Aphasia would like this training to educate volunteers about other ways to communicate, and support someone with aphasia with conversations.
