Aphasia is a communication disorder that affects a person's ability to speak, understand language, read and write. Aphasia is a loss of language, not intellect and the general public never heard of it.

I'm bored with walking the half marathon I did in Brighton for SayAphasia in March but to raise awareness of aphasia I will be walking part of the South Down walk. I "celebrated" my 10 years stroke anniversary in May... WTF!

My carer, Colin, is my human donkey and will be carrying my food & drink for the walk. We both have aphasia. Colin keeps confusing she/he pronouns and I keep confusing yes/no words. Both are symptoms of aphasia. That will make our conversation on the walk rather interesting! As long as we don't get lost I'm fine! 😆 Colin Lyall
