The Say Aphasia group provides regular, time-unlimited support to people with life changing and life-long communication difficulties. Say Aphasia is adding to the patient journey and recovery pathway and the group will provide long term support which is likely to continue beyond a block of therapy intervention.  (Years rather than months.)

North Dorset is a very rural area and it is important for people to have groups which are accessible to them and in their local communities. It can be very difficult for people to meet others with speech and language difficulties and this can lead to people feeling very alone.

People really value meeting others with similar experiences and it decreases feelings of isolation.  I think this is also true for families / carers of people with communication difficulties.
