Marcus Webb Run for Sayaphasia Donate A friend of mine is on the board of this amazing charity. It’s a small charity that runs groups for over 300 people who’ve suddenly lost their ability to communicate. The loss of ability to communicate is destabilising and debilitating in many cases. All the money I raise will help connect people to their friends and lives again. Imagine not being able to text your friends, speak to your family, write a work email. You've suddenly lost the ability to retain a job, crack jokes with friends, and tell your family you love them. This is the reality when people first wake up from hospital after a stroke or brain injury, which has caused them to have Aphasia. With the support of this charity, people with aphasia are able to meet others with aphasia, in an environment where aphasia is understood. Their support groups give people with aphasia the space to practice their communication skills in a relaxed environment with others who understand their experience.Unfortunately people with aphasia do not fully recover. So an important part of the work is to help people with aphasia adapt to their new way of life with a communication disability. Marcus Webb Manage Cookie Preferences
