I've signed up to run the Brighton 1/2 marathon for Say Aphasia having seen, first-hand, the amazing work the charity does.

I am often inspired and my preconceptions challenged by the people I work with who live with aphasia. Their determination, resilience and honesty never fail to inspire and motivate me, eg watch this short interview with Lucy (a group member at the Winchester group) talking to ITV news (in Oct) about why she feels she 'needs' to come the group.

(The 1st clip is the ITV news story and the 2nd clip is a longer interview with Lucy) - both definitely worth a watch.

Walking into the groups (in Winchester and in Bournemouth) the immediate thing that struck me was how warm and welcoming the groups are.
The groups provide a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere where people can be themselves, communicating as much or as little as they want, and in whatever way works best for them, because the peer leader and group members all know what life is like with aphasia - so newcomers seem to realise quickly that they are among people who really understand.

Your sponsorship will go directly to where it will make the most difference.. keeping the groups running, providing invaluable support to people living life with a communication disability caused by stroke or other brain injury.

Thank you for your support!

Nadine
