In my time volunteering in the South Oxford Say Aphasia support group, I have learnt so much about aphasia, a little-understood neurological disorder that impairs communication. Individuals with aphasia have to completely adapt to their new lives as they struggle to communicate after stroke or brain tumours.

It has been a total joy to get to know individuals with aphasia in our fortnightly sessions. We laugh about anything and everything, bring in cakes that we have baked and connect in a unique setting where people with aphasia are listened to with patience and understanding. I am so pleased to watch this caring and important charity grow.
